The tenth annual Pittsfield CityJazz Festival runs from Oct. 10-19, 2014 in various venues in downtown Pittsfield. A signature cultural event of the fall foliage season in western Massachusetts, the music spans the spectrum of jazz.

There are only two ticketed events, on Oct. 17 and 18. Opening the headline weekend is vocalist Stephanie Nakasian, featured with a trio headed by pianist Hod O’Brien. The performance takes place in the intimate setting of Baba Louie’s Backroom, a popular speakeasy-type room that is becoming one of the more popular jazz venues in the Berkshires. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. KENTON FEST with the Los Angeles Jazz Institute will feature Stephanie Nakasian singing June Christy with an all star big band!

Stephanie will be singing the original Pete Rugolo arrangements from the album, "Something Cool."

Kenton Fest is a unique five day musical excursion through the many facets of "Cool Jazz" The festival has been carefully designed to pay tribute to the music and musicians who were the architects of the style through concert performances, rare films, panel discussions and special presentations.

The festival covers the four major strains of Cool Jazz. Woody Herman and the Four Brothers Sound, The Music of Lennie Tristano and His Disciples, The Birth of the Cool and it's participants and West Coast Cool.

They are especially proud to welcome a very special guest of honor Lee Konitz, one of the great jazz innovators and an integral part of much of the music that will be featured throughout the festival.
